Privacy Policy

GreenThumb does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address, photos, or plant data. The app does not collect your GPS location; optional plant-location text stays on your device. Plant identification runs entirely on your device using a bundled recognition model. Photos you take or import are stored in the app’s private storage on your device only.

The free version of GreenThumb shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect advertising or device identifiers, IP addresses (which can estimate approximate location), ad interactions, and crash or performance information for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention, as described in Google’s privacy policy. You can remove ads entirely with a one-time purchase, after which GreenThumb stops loading ads; on future launches, it skips ad SDK initialization while your remove-ads entitlement is active.

Before requesting ads, GreenThumb uses Google’s consent service to check whether privacy choices are required in your region and show the required forms. Where available, you can review those choices in Settings under Ad privacy choices. Ads are paused while you change your choices and resume only when Google’s consent service permits ad requests.

With your permission, the getgreenthumb.app website uses Google Analytics to understand visits, traffic sources, page views, and interactions such as clicks on store links, download buttons, and FAQ opens. Custom events include fixed placement and question labels; they do not include search text. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes browser and device information and IP addresses to produce usage reports, including approximate location. Advertising signals and ad personalization are disabled for this website tag. This website measurement does not access the photos or plant data in the app.

Analytics stays off until you choose Allow analytics. We remember your choice in your browser. You can decline or withdraw consent using Cookie settings in the footer; withdrawing consent reloads the page and clears this site’s Google Analytics cookies. You can also use your browser’s privacy controls or Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google describes its data processing in its privacy policy.

The remove-ads purchase is processed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play. We receive a confirmation of the purchase but no payment details.

The plant species database and identification reference library are bundled with the app. Updating them requires an app update; no photos or plant records are uploaded for identification.

GreenThumb stores your plant records and photos locally and does not keep a copy on our servers. Deleting the app removes its local data. Your device’s backup settings may retain a separate copy; manage those backups through Apple or Google. GreenThumb does not provide an account-based backup or sync service.
