The short version: GreenThumb identifies plants on your device. Your photos, your plant list, and your care schedules stay on your phone. We don’t have a server that could receive them, and we don’t want one.
What we don't collect
GreenThumb does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address, location, photos, or plant data. Plant identification runs entirely on your device using a bundled recognition model. Photos you take or import are stored in the app’s private storage on your device only.
Advertising
The free version of GreenThumb shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device-level information (such as advertising identifiers) to serve and measure ads, as described in Google’s privacy policy. You can remove ads entirely with a one-time purchase, after which no ad SDK requests are made.
Purchases
The remove-ads purchase is processed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play. We receive a confirmation of the purchase but no payment details.
Species database updates
The app may periodically download updates to its plant species database (reference data only). These requests carry no personal data and no photos.
Your data, your device
Because everything lives on your device, deleting the app deletes your data. There is no copy anywhere else. If you want your plant records preserved, back up your device as usual.
